WBCS- exams for civil service aspirants in West Bengal



The civil services examination is one of the most important examinations which are conducted in India. Large numbers of students enroll themselves and appear for exams every year in hopes of becoming the civil servants. 

In West Bengal, the WBCS are held which are more commonly known as the WBCS executive exams. The students appearing in these serve as civil servants but only in the state of west Bengal. The exams are arranged by states’ Public service commission so that every student that desires to serve as government servant can give these exams and crack them as well.

Such competitive examinations are arranged in three phases which are:


Every year, students can appear in these three phases for the WBCS. There are four groups as well which can be chosen according to merit of the scored number and the students choice as well. Students who pass the exams are allowed to give the next level and when the crack all the three levels they get appointed for serving as the civil servants in the state. 

Highest position which a WBCS officer attains is the departmental secretary. Other posts include deputy magistrate, deputy collector, block development officer. Also, at later level of career, these officers under the WBCS can become the all India services officers. 

Not just this, the state of West Bengal also reserves three posts of district magistrates for the students who become officers under the WBCS (Exe). It’s essential that students who appear in the exams are well versed with Bengali language and are able to read, write and also speak the language. 

Whne the students are able to crack all three stages, they are appointed for the inspection of great health and after all things are satisfactory, they are appointed by authority as the WBCS (Exe) officer to serve the state.
