Optional Papers WBCS 2018

One cannot ignore the optional papers while preparing for the West Bengal Civil Services (WBCS). There are several factors you need to keep in mind when choosing optional papers for WBCS 2018.

The primary concern when picking optional subjects is to get more marks so you qualify the exams. Most people prefer high scoring subjects. What we suggest is you choose subjects that you have a base in; can prepare for and can get marks easily. It is not advisable to take up a paper based on recommendations made by others. You should choose subjects that you have interest in.

Availability of study material is also another major concern. In more cases than one candidates go for subjects that supposedly help score higher. This is debatable but at the same time you must go through the preset exam pattern before deciding. Fact of the matter is mediocrity does not work when you are planning to crack these exams. Make sure you find out about available material and WBCSbook list before deciding. That way you won’t get stuck due to unavailability of books and study material.

Some candidates decide to go for subjects they are familiar with. But familiarity with certain concepts does not mean you’ll develop an interest later on. You must choose carefully. Eventually it is your capacity to read, learn and absorb data, facts and figures that’ll stand you in good stead.

Trivial as it may sound choose optional subjects that you feel you’ll be able to prepare well within the stipulated time period. It is important to go through previous years question papers and understand the pattern. Pick a combination so that you get enough time to revisit the syllabus before each paper.
Though it is good to prepare on your own, there is nothing like an ability to focus and concentrate; you must choose a good WBCS coaching guide. So what are you waiting for, join a coaching class today!
